According to the World Bank, a quarter of the world's population is excluded from the traditional financial system. For these 2 billion people, the only source of working capital is the small cash loans they can borrow within their own communities, often paying more than 100% annual interest. Seventy percent of the so-called unbanked are smallholder farmers who live in poverty despite producing one-third of the world's food.
Through EthicHub's CrowdFunding platform, anyone can lend capital to farmers at a fixed interest rate of 8% return.
At the same time, our community provides collateral on behalf of farmers in the form of Ethix to guarantee farmers' loans.
EthicHub also provides farmers with access to value-added markets so they are no longer the weakest link in the supply chain.
By harnessing the power of blockchain technology and smart contracts, lenders around the world can invest in the productivity of unbanked smallholder farmers, giving them access to affordable capital with minimized risk loans, all enabled by EthicHub's Clearing System. It provides liquid collateral to the lender's capital in the form of equity in Ethix, its own token.
Financial exclusion affects all geographic regions and types of financing, but is particularly concentrated in long-term agricultural financing, for which 98% of global demand remains unmet (2019 Agricultural and Rural Finance Report, ISF Advisors, 2019).
In her book, "It's Expensive to Be Poor," award-winning columnist Barbara Ehrenreich argues that people in poverty are not in that situation because of their habits, but because they simply don't have money right now. Indeed, research on this topic has repeatedly highlighted the most persistent obstacles that small farmers in need of financial resources must overcome, ranging from excessive documentation requirements to high account fees and limited access to bank branches.
EthicHub is a new generation Crowdlending platform. Here are its main competitive advantages:
-The last mile solution, allowing to deliver money where it is needed.
-The innovation of Blended Finance 2.0, also known as CrowdCollateral. Thanks to the use of blockchain technology all operational loans transacted on EthicHub's platform are over-collateralized, which adds an extra layer of collateral to investors looking to generate an 8% fixed income.
-Operational implementation and origination process, resulting in a low default rate of less than 1%.
Money spread: the difference between the interest rate we are acquiring money (from impact investors) and the interest rate we are lending our money. Normally this figure is between 4%-5%.
Ethix: the company owns 10% of the total circulating supply of Ethxi, which means that the increase in the value of Ethix tokens is a source of revenue for the company.
Coffee Marketplace- We also sell Coffee by the ton, without middlemen, directly to large coffee roasters.
Platform fees- 4% of each loan goes directly to the purchase of Ethix and is deposited into the clearing system, which increases the price of Ethix due to the scarcity of the token.
