Slow Philosophy

Our project solves four major global problems:
We provide our SaaS (Software as a Service) “The Crop” (https://www.thecrop.slowphilosophy.com) which harnesses our artificial intelligence algorithm (Insight) to help farmers, businesses and governments to get viable and cost-effective farming solutions for their agricultural holdings.
Think of Insight as an agronomist and economist rolled into one conducting a bespoke study for your holdings without leaving home and with unmatched expertise. Insight’s know-how comes from the tons of data it gleans from sources as varied as Open Data, historical records, climatology, special features of regions, sensors, satellites, etc.
We use The Crop to identify the most suitable crop for a specific farm/region:
It will also help us to decide where to plant particular crops to get the best outcome (financially speaking):
Our partners will additionally be able to use a wide range of add-on services:
- Advice
- Technological tools (software and hardware) to implement in their crops
- Savings on inputs, products and tools
Before unpacking our potential market, it’s important to bear in mind Spain’s agricultural position (similar cases can be found in many other countries around the world):
- One million registered farms
- An average area of barely 17 hectares per farm
- Only 40% of farms reach the minimum break-even point, which the Ministry of Agriculture says is €42,000 for individuals and €271,000 for legal entities.
- Total number of farmers: 1,001,000
- The yield of the area under cultivation is barely €1,080 per hectare
With these data on the table, our potential market is divided into three distinct lines of business:
At present there are NO technical solutions like ours on the market, but there ARE competitors with a low scalability rate: “Consultants and agronomists who conduct bespoke studies”.
¿What makes us different?
Our algorithm can analyse tons of data, draw conclusions and learn from it all. This enables us to deliver ever more effective solutions and decisions for the farms we analyse. This would be quite impossible with an ad hoc system such as the one currently in place. Furthermore, if we interweave sources from totally different regions/countries in this data gathering, we can build international connections which further cement the projects, better withstanding any market fluctuations and matching needs with solutions that resolve highly complex issues such as immigration and developing less economically advanced areas.
We target the regeneration and use of land that nobody uses (because it’s been abandoned or its soil is badly degraded). This opens up a large amount of land which almost nobody wants and at very low prices, and this increases our customers’ income.
We also offer business models that are closely tied to “changing people’s lives”. This provides tons of “energy and hope” for farmers and/or people who then become advocates of our tool all over the world (more and better marketing).
Last but not least, to hold onto our customers over time (CLV - Customer Lifetime Value) we provide a way of cataloguing/certifying the farms which are analysed by our algorithm. This evaluation can place on the map the farmland that’s best “rated” with the resulting increase in crop yield, the sale/lease price of the farm to a third party and its sustainability.
Our company has two distinct business models:
MODEL 1- SaaS
“Pay-per-use” of The Crop, our SaaS platform.
- B2C - €300 + taxes per year
MODEL 2 - Licensing
The complexity and specific features of the agricultural industry in every region around the world have prompted us to add a second business model (no less important than the first): licensing our brand and platform (The Crop)/algorithm (Insight) to countries looking to distribute and roll out our project.
License access fee (€250.000,00) + annual maintenance fee
We’re a young and passionate team with more than 10 years of real-world experience in the field led by each team member. We have a solid background in Tech & Agro to make our project grow.
From Silicon Valley to China, we’ve worked for the world’s leading businesses and governments (Google X, UAE Government, SF City Hall, Valeo, etc.) and so we’ve also learned from them. We speak several languages (English, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, etc.) which will help us take our project all over the globe.
